DESCRIPTION
The Galaxy MKIV began development in 2381 to supersede the aging Galaxy Class Explorer. The technicians at Jupiter Station were given two years to create and design an upgraded and updated design for the Galaxy. Using the standard frame for the Galaxy Class, the technicians were able to use the new Mark XII phasers, as used on a Sovereign Class Starship and give it an additional three strips as well. The extra strips have all new mounting points on the ship, two were added to the ‘neck’ of the Starship, one on each side and the other mounted around the bridge module. These addition phasers give the starship unprecedented firing arcs whenthe ship is separated as the Stardrive section has a forward firing arc of 270 degrees.

The ship was also given the use of an additional torpedo launcher upfront and an additional aft launcher that can be used only when the vessel is separated. All launchers have an additional tube as well bringing the number of tubes per launcher up from six to seven. However, Tactical Officer will have be careful with how frisky they are using torpedos as the original compliment of 185 Photons has remained meaning that torpedoes can run out very quickly.
